Job Description
Job Summary:The Broadcast IT Engineer provides technical support and maintenance for IT systems that support broadcast operations in a live newsroom environment.
This role involves working with broadcast equipment, software, networks, and content delivery systems, ensuring smooth and reliable operation of the broadcast chain.
Key Responsibilities:Assist in the maintenance and support of broadcast IT systems, including newsroom computer systems (NRCS), video servers, editing systems, and storage platforms.Monitor system status and respond to technical issues, escalating as necessary to senior engineers.Support users in the newsroom and production areas with technical troubleshooting and incident resolution.Perform routine checks, system updates, and preventive maintenance under the guidance of senior staff.Help with equipment installation, software configuration, and patch management.Maintain logs and documentation of incidents, system changes, and daily activities.Collaborate with IT and broadcast teams to support file-based production and media workflows.Provide support during live and pre-recorded broadcasts under direct supervision.Follow established IT and engineering procedures, including data backup and user access control.Participate in a rotating schedule to provide after-hours support as required.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering.3–7 years of experience in broadcast and IT support roles.Proficient with broadcast systems used across television media channels.Good knowledge of newsroom systems (e.g., ENPS, iNews), video editing platforms (e.g., Media Composer), Production Asset Management, and media asset management tools.Good knowledge of IT hardware and software, including servers, storage systems, and operating systems (Linux, Windows, etc.).Understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, multicast, etc.) and network management within a broadcast environment.Strong willingness to learn and develop new technical skills in a live broadcast setting.Good communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with technical and editorial teams.Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as part of a shift or on-call rotation.
