Design Engineer Manager
Job Description
- 1.
Responsible for overseeing the design process of the project, from the initial concept to the final completion.
This involves coordinating with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that the design meets the requirements, budget, and timeline of the project.
- 2.
Review and approve drawings, specifications, materials, and contracts, as well as monitor and report on the progress and quality of the design work.
- 3.
Prepare/oversee the preparation of design briefs, studies of user requirements, technical aspects, site conditions, planning, design, and building in use, etc., as necessary; and give appraisals and recommendations.
- 4.
Obtain stakeholders' approvals on different design stages, confirm cost and program compliance with the investment case, and present designs.
- 5. negotiate contracts; approve and apply payments; and provide services and reports, including change management, contract administration advice, and settle final consultants' accounts to ensure transparency and adherence to AFGRE policies and procedures through different project stages.
- 6.
Follow up and provide the necessary information to develop the Project Handbook, Design Manuals, and Fit-out Guides

Report on development and monitor unit performance against the project's vision and KPIs.
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus)Minimum 10–15 years of experience in design management within real estate development or construction companiesProven experience managing the full project lifecycle (concept, schematic, detailed design, IFC, and handover)Strong knowledge of:Design codes, regulations, and authority approvalsValue engineering and cost optimizationCoordination between architectural, structural, and MEP disciplinesExperience working with:Consultants and design firms managementMixed-use, residential, and commercial projectsLarge-scale developments is a strong advantageProficiency in design and coordination tools:AutoCAD, Revit (BIM knowledge is a must)Project management tools (Primavera / MS Project is a plus)Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills:Ability to lead multidisciplinary teamsStrong communication with internal departments (technical office, PMO, construction)Experience in client and authority presentationsSolid understanding of:Tendering process and technical evaluationShop drawings review and site supportContract documents and specificationsHigh attention to detail with strong problem-solving skillsAbility to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyPreferred CompetenciesExperience in real estate developers (not only consultants/contractors)Background in value engineering & design optimizationFamiliarity with local authority regulations in Egypt
