Fleet Manager

The Fleet Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s fleet operations, including vehicle utilization, maintenance, compliance, driver management, and operational efficiency.

The role ensures the fleet operates safely, cost-effectively, and in alignment with company operational requirements while supporting smooth transportation and logistics activities.

Fleet Operations ManagementManage the daily operations and utilization of the company’s fleet, including trucks, trailers, and operational vehicles.Ensure fleet availability to support transportation, logistics, and operational requirements.Monitor vehicle performance, fuel consumption, mileage, and operational efficiency.Coordinate vehicle allocation and scheduling to optimize fleet productivity and minimize downtime.Ensure proper tracking and monitoring of fleet movement and operational status.Maintenance & Asset ManagementOversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities for all fleet vehicles and equipment.Ensure vehicles are regularly inspected, serviced, and maintained according to operational and manufacturer standards.Monitor repair activities and coordinate with workshops, maintenance teams, and external service providers.Maintain accurate maintenance records, service schedules, and vehicle history documentation.Monitor spare parts, tires, lubricants, and maintenance-related inventory requirements.Driver & Team ManagementSupervise drivers and fleet support personnel to ensure compliance with company policies and operational procedures.Monitor driver performance, attendance, safety practices, and operational discipline.Coordinate driver training programs related to safety, operational procedures, and company standards.Ensure proper communication between drivers, operations teams, and management.Compliance & SafetyEnsure all fleet vehicles comply with transportation laws, licensing requirements, and company policies.Monitor vehicle registrations, insurance, permits, and inspection renewals.Implement and enforce fleet safety procedures and operational standards.Investigate accidents, breakdowns, and operational incidents and prepare related reports.Promote safe driving practices and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.Cost Control & ReportingMonitor fleet operational costs including fuel, maintenance, repairs, and external service expenses.Identify opportunities for cost reduction and operational efficiency improvements.Prepare fleet performance reports, utilization reports, maintenance reports, and operational KPIs.Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to fleet operations.Continuous ImprovementRecommend process improvements to enhance fleet performance, efficiency, and reliability.Support implementation of fleet management systems, GPS tracking, and operational technologies.Analyze operational data to improve route planning, fuel efficiency, and fleet productivity.

Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Mechanical Engineering, Business Administration, Transportation Management, or related field.Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in fleet management, transportation, or logistics operations.Strong knowledge of fleet maintenance, transportation regulations, and vehicle operations.Experience managing trucks, trailers, and commercial transportation fleets is preferred.Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Good analytical and reporting capabilities.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and fleet management systems.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple operational priorities.
