GL Accounting Section Head

Job SummaryWe are seeking a GL Accounting Section Head to lead the General Ledger function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, proper maintenance of accounting records, and timely closing of financial periods.

This role involves overseeing all GL activities, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing insightful financial analysis to support strategic decision-making in a fast-paced retail environment.

Job ResponsibilitiesLead and supervise the General Ledger team, providing guidance and performance management.Oversee all general ledger activities, including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and reconciliations.Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end closing processes.Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and variance analyses for management.Maintain and enhance internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.Coordinate with other accounting functions (AP, AR, Treasury) to ensure proper recording of transactions.Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.Support audits by providing required documentation and explanations.Continuously improve accounting processes and systems for better efficiency and accuracy.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a professional accounting certificate is a plus.7+ years of experience in General Ledger accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.Retail background is a must.Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and closing processes.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems, Odoo ERP exposure is a must.Excellent leadership and team management skills.High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.
