HSE Assistant Manager
Job Description
Review daily operational activities and monitor Safety KPIs, including SIR closure, adherence, POS, first aid cases, Lost Time Accidents (LTA), Total Accident Rate (TAR), and near-miss incidents, ensuring accurate reporting and corrective actions.Monitor unsafe behaviors through security systems and operational observations, and take immediate corrective and preventive actions in coordination with relevant teams.Prepare and communicate daily safety reports covering unsafe acts and conditions, while engaging Operations and Supply Chain teams to review performance and implement improvement actions across departments.Analyze plant safety performance and culture, translating corporate safety strategies into measurable objectives and actionable plans across all functions (end-to-end).Conduct regular Gemba walks and safety audits across all plants to identify risks, gather feedback, and promote continuous improvement in safety practices.Execute safety-related initiatives and directives issued by Savola Global and Savola Egypt HSE central teams, ensuring full compliance with corporate standards.Monitor and control HSE-related budgets, reviewing actual expenditures versus planned budgets on a regular basis.Manage CAPEX projects related to safety by coordinating with external consultants, ensuring timely execution in compliance with HSE standards and company procedures (CPS).Lead weekly safety pillar meetings with functional heads to review safety requirements, progress on action plans, and key risk areas.Translate management safety strategies into annual master plans with defined actions and measurable targets.Liaise with external regulatory authorities (e.g., Occupational Safety & Health Office, Civil Defense, Environmental Affairs Agency) to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.Develop annual CAPEX and OPEX plans based on risk assessments, insurance recommendations, and internal/external audit findings.Drive enhancement of safety culture across the plant through training programs, awareness campaigns, and targeted safety initiatives.Oversee waste management processes by collecting data and coordinating with authorized entities for proper disposal in compliance with environmental standards.Maintain and update safety communication boards across all plants to ensure visibility of KPIs, alerts, and awareness messages.Support sustainability initiatives by collecting and analyzing data on energy, water, and material consumption, and reporting performance to the global team.Conduct monthly safety reviews with country and global teams to evaluate performance, risks, and improvement actions.Lead and manage all safety incident investigations, ensuring root cause analysis is conducted and corrective actions are implemented effectively.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or related discipline).6–8 years of experience in Health, Safety & Environment roles, preferably within the food manufacturing or FMCG industry.Strong knowledge of local HSE regulations and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.Proficiency in MS Office tools and safety management systems; knowledge of data analysis is a plus.Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent are highly preferred.
Requirements & Qualifications
