Materials & Corrosion Engineer
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:Provide expert guidance as a consultant on corrosion prevention and mitigation strategies for process equipment, piping, storage tanks, and related systems.Advise on materials selection and compatibility assessments, ensuring metallic and non-metallic components perform reliably under high-alkaline, high-temperature, or chemically aggressive environments.Design and oversee corrosion monitoring programs, including probes, coupons, and other sensors, and recommend improvements.Conduct failure analysis and root cause investigations for critical assets, providing preventive recommendations.Review and provide guidance on contractor or team technical documents, datasheets, and protective coating proposals.Support inspection planning, risk-based inspection (RBI), and life prediction of critical equipment.Provide technical advice and training to engineering and operations teams, ensuring safety and environmental compliance.
Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s degree or higher in Materials, Metallurgical, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering.Minimum 10 years of experience in corrosion/materials engineering in industrial or chemical plants.Strong knowledge of corrosion mechanisms, protective coatings, and cathodic protection.Familiarity with relevant standards such as NACE, ISO, ASTM, and industrial safety practices.Experience with risk-based inspection (RBI) or asset integrity management is preferred.Proven ability to review technical documentation, manage budgets, and liaise with vendors or contractors.Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.Skills & Competencies:Corrosion threat assessment and mitigation guidanceMaterials selection for industrial chemical environmentsFailure analysis and predictive maintenance planningProtective coating system assessment and optimizationAsset integrity management and monitoring supportTechnical documentation review and reportingTeam guidance and technical training
