Operations & Network Growth Manager
Job Description
A fast-scaling transportation platform is hiring an Operations & Network Growth Manager to lead the two engines of its business: growing the network of third-party truck owners operating under its umbrella, and controlling the day-to-day execution of transportation operations across the country.
The role reports directly to the Head of the Business Unit and leads Network Growth and Operations Control teams.Network Growth — Truck Owner Acquisition & Retention
- Own and deliver the quarterly truck-owner acquisition plan, adding tipper and flatbed trucks to the platform from both individual owner-operators and small/medium fleet owners (SMBs).
- Build and manage the full acquisition funnel: market mapping by governorate and route, lead generation, field visits, negotiation, contracting, onboarding, and activation of the first trip.
- Shape and continuously sharpen the truck-owner value proposition — earnings per truck, guaranteed load availability, payment cycle, and access to value-added services (tires, spare parts, lubricants, maintenance, insurance).
- Own retention and churn: track active versus idle trucks, owner earnings, and satisfaction; identify drop-off drivers and act on them before trucks leave the network.
- Lead geographic expansion into new clusters and secure reliable, contracted capacity in each new area.
- Lead and develop the SMBs Network Growth and Individual Network Growth teams; set territory targets, visit plans, and conversion KPIs, and coach the field force on the ground.Operations Control — Execution & Delivery Performance
- Direct the Operations Control function covering load allocation, dispatching, en-route follow-up, and exception management across all clusters and all shifts.
- Deliver on-time delivery, trip cycle time, and truck utilization targets; investigate deviations and drive corrective action to closure.
- Govern the daily and weekly capacity plan against committed customer volumes, balancing supply and demand across projects and routes.
- Drive full adoption of the Transportation Management System (TMS) and truck-owner mobile app by both internal teams and truck owners; work with the technology team to close system gaps.
- Safeguard accuracy and discipline in trip documentation, settlement, and truck-owner payments; resolve commercial and operational disputes fairly and quickly.
- Coordinate closely with commercial, planning, finance, and technology functions to keep service levels and margins on track.Performance, People & Governance
- Build, staff, and develop the section heads, supervisors, and team leaders across both functions; own succession for critical field roles.
- Own the performance dashboard for network growth and operations control, and report results and risks directly to the Head of the Business Unit.
- Contribute to the operating margin of the transportation business through cost-per-ton control, capacity optimization, and reduction of empty running.
- Ensure HSE standards, driver conduct, licensing, and regulatory compliance are upheld across the network.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline; postgraduate qualification is a plus.
- 8–12 years of experience in road transportation, trucking, freight brokerage, or logistics operations, including at least 3–4 years leading multi-team structures.
- Proven track record recruiting, contracting, and retaining third-party truck owners or owner-operators at scale — tippers, flatbeds, or bulk/dry cargo fleets.
- Strong command of transport operations: dispatching, load allocation, route costing, trip cycle management, and on-time delivery performance.
- Commercial and negotiation strength, with the credibility to build and sell a value proposition directly to individual truck owners and small fleet owners.
- Hands-on experience with TMS or dispatch platforms, GPS tracking, and Excel / BI reporting.
- Deep familiarity with the Egyptian trucking market and truck-owner community; an established network is a strong advantage.
- Willingness to travel frequently across operating clusters and to spend meaningful time in the field.
- Arabic: fluent (essential for field engagement).
English: good business level (B2).
- Entrepreneurial, resilient, hands-on, and comfortable building processes from scratch in a fast-growing, start-up-style environment.
