R&D Engineer - Refrigerator Manufacturing

Responsibilities:.

Design & DevelopmentDesign and develop new refrigeration systems for refrigerator products (domestic/commercial) using CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, etc.).Select key components (compressor, evaporator, condenser, expansion valve, thermal insulation) and optimize them for performance and cost.Develop refrigeration circuit diagrams and build prototypes.

Modelling & AnalysisUse mathematical modelling and thermodynamics (using MATLAB, Python, or specialized tools such as Danfoss CoolSelector, NIST Refprop) to optimize system performance.Apply heat and mass transfer principles to improve cooling efficiency and reduce energy consumption.Conduct root cause analysis for thermal or mechanical system failures.

Testing & ValidationPlan and execute laboratory tests for refrigeration systems (temperature, humidity, energy consumption, cycle testing).Analyse experimental data to evaluate product performance and propose design improvements.Document test results and prepare technical reports to support compliance with international standards (ISO, IEC, local/global energy efficiency regulations).

Integration & ProductionCollaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and assembly meet quality and safety standards.Integrate mechanical components with electronic control systems (e.g., thermostats, sensors, PLCs where required).Prepare technical documentation (BOM, assembly drawings, installation instructions) to support production and quality control.

Project Management & InnovationParticipate in project planning, scheduling, and task coordination to ensure timely product delivery.Stay updated on emerging refrigeration technologies (e.g., natural refrigerants R600a/R290, smart refrigeration, VIP vacuum insulation panels) and propose their application in new products.

Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of progressive experience in Research and Development, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field within the Refrigerator manufacturing industry.Required Skills:Profound expertise in Design, Research, and Development methodologies.Exceptional proficiency in Mechanical Engineering and advanced Mechanical Design principles.Solid understanding and practical application of Production Engineering and the broader Manufacturing Industry landscape.Demonstrated experience with Manufacturing Process optimization and implementation, including strong command of 5S Lean Manufacturing Methodology.Proven ability in Manufacturing Engineering and the practice of Refactoring for continuous improvement.Specialized knowledge and hands-on experience with Refrigeration systems and Refrigerators.Outstanding Technical Troubleshooting and Prototyping skills.Excellent communication and collaboration abilities to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.Education: A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a closely related technical field is highly preferred.Career Level: This is an Experienced level position, ideal for professionals ready to take on significant responsibilities and drive innovation.Spatial Scope / Location Range:The role is located in Cairo, Egypt.

The successful candidate must reside in or be willing to relocate to Greater Cairo and commute to the company's R&D headquarters.
