Rig Mechanic

Oversee the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment on drilling rigs to ensure optimal performance and safety.Lead and mentor a team of mechanics, providing technical guidance and hands-on support during complex repairs and routine maintenance tasks.Conduct regular inspections of rig machinery, including engines, pumps, hoisting systems, and rotary equipment, to identify potential issues and prevent equipment failures.Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and company standards.Diagnose mechanical faults using advanced diagnostic tools and recommend effective solutions to minimize downtime.Ensure all maintenance activities comply with company safety policies, industry regulations, and environmental standards.Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory for audit and reporting purposes.Coordinate with drilling supervisors and other departments to prioritize maintenance tasks and support operational requirements.Assist in the procurement of spare parts and liaise with vendors to ensure timely delivery of critical components.Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance rig reliability and safety culture.

Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a rig mechanic or in a similar role within the oil and gas industry.Proven expertise in maintaining and repairing drilling rig mechanical systems and equipment.Strong leadership skills with experience supervising or mentoring junior mechanics.Comprehensive knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices for drilling rigs.Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to industry regulations.Effective communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.Willingness to work on-site in an onshore/offshore environment as required.Flexibility to work extended hours, shifts, or rotational schedules based on operational needs.
