Job PurposeThe Foundation Stage Co-Teacher supports the Homeroom Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of young learners.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Learning SupportSupport the Homeroom Teacher in delivering engaging and age-appropriate learning experiences.Assist in implementing inquiry-based and play-based activities aligned with the IB PYP framework.Support individual students and small groups during learning activities.Reinforce learning objectives and classroom expectations.Encourage student participation, independence, and confidence.Student Care and Well-BeingEnsure the safety, welfare, and supervision of students at all times.Support students' social, emotional, and behavioral development.Promote positive behavior and model respectful interactions.Assist children with daily routines and self-care skills when needed.Foster a warm, caring, and inclusive classroom environment.Classroom ManagementSupport the implementation of classroom routines and procedures.Assist in managing student behavior using positive reinforcement strategies.Help maintain a clean, organized, and stimulating learning environment.Support smooth transitions between activities and learning areas.Classroom PreparationPrepare, organize, and maintain learning materials and classroom resources.Assist with classroom displays, learning centers, and student work documentation.Support the setup and cleanup of activities and learning spaces.Communication and CollaborationWork collaboratively with the Homeroom Teacher and other staff members.Maintain professional and respectful communication with students, colleagues, and parents.Attend meetings, training sessions, and school events as required.Support school initiatives and extracurricular activities when needed.IB and Professional ResponsibilitiesPromote the IB Learner Profile attributes and Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.Support student agency, inquiry, and reflection.Demonstrate commitment to the school's mission, vision, and values.Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities.
EducationEssentialBachelor's degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Psychology, Child Development, or a related field.PreferredEarly Childhood Education qualification or certification.Training in IB PYP, Early Years Education, or child development.
ExperienceEssentialMinimum 1 year of experience working with young children in a school, nursery, daycare, or educational setting.PreferredExperience in an IB, international, or inquiry-based learning environment.Experience supporting children aged 3–6 years.
