MSSQL DBA Database Administrator | Leading Bank (Long-Term External Placement)

Job Summary: We are seeking for one of the largest Bank in Egypt a Senior Microsoft SQL Server Database Administrator to manage and support critical database systems in a high-availability production environment.

The role focuses on performance optimization, database security, backup and recovery, and ensuring system reliability using advanced SQL Server technologies.

Key Responsibilities: Administer, monitor, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases in production environments Perform performance tuning, query optimization, and troubleshooting Manage backup and recovery strategies using native SQL Server tools Implement and support high availability and disaster recovery solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping)

Apply patches, cumulative updates, and upgrades with minimal downtime Ensure database security (encryption, auditing, access control, compliance)

Monitor database health and perform capacity planning Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell and T-SQL scripting Collaborate with application, infrastructure, and security teams Participate in incident management and on-call support

Required Qualifications: Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server administration in production environmentsTechnical Skills:Strong expertise in Microsoft SQL Server AdministrationHands-on experience with: Backup & recovery strategiesAlways On Availability Groups and Failover ClusteringStrong knowledge of: Performance tuning (execution plans, indexing, query optimization)Database internals and troubleshootingExperience with: SQL Server security (TDE, Always Encrypted, auditing, role-based access)Patching and upgradesPowerShell and T-SQL scriptingSQL Server Agent jobs and automationFamiliarity with: Monitoring tools (SQL Server Management Studio, Extended Events, third-party tools)Capacity planning and performance monitoringEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with the banking industry and its specific database requirements.Experience with database administration on platforms such as Oracle Database, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB.Familiarity with other relational and NoSQL database technologies.Experience with Middleware like Oracle WebLogic Server, JBOSS, Wildfly, or other middleware solutions.Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work under pressureGood communication and teamwork skills
