Senior Technical Office Engineer (Solar Energy)

About the job A Senior PV Design Engineer leads the electrical and technical design of large-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, creating detailed plans, schematics, and simulations using software like AutoCAD, PVsyst, and ETAP; they ensure compliance with standards, manage interconnections with utilities, provide technical support during project execution, mentor junior staff, and conduct site assessments for feasibility, bridging concept to construction for commercial, industrial, and utility projects.

Responsibilities▪ Develop conceptual and detailed designs, including layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and electrical studies for large-scale on-grid PV Plant and Hybrid systems.▪ Model system performance, energy yields, and conduct electrical analysis using tools like PVsyst, AutoCAD, ETAP, and SKUP.▪ Prepare technical proposals, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), technical specifications, and construction-ready drawing packages (detailed Engineering).▪ Coordinate with utilities and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) for grid connection and ensure designs meet local/international codes (NEC, IEC,IEEE, etc.).▪ Lead site visits to assess viability, identify risks, and gather data for accurate designs.▪ Mentor junior engineers, provide technical guidance, manage internal/external engineering teams, and solve complex project issues.▪ Support in revising the technical documents & drawings received from suppliers & contractors.▪Create Project Estimates and Prepare Bills of Quantity & Requests for Quote.▪Handle all open design issues with clients, consultants & suppliers.▪ Design & selection of all system components (solar panels, solar inverters, mounting structure, low voltage & medium voltage cables, low voltage distribution panels, Transformers, RMU, Switchgear, BESS)▪Prepare shop drawings & detailed Engineering required for construction (layouts, single line diagrams, Cable routing, earthing network…etc.) and support the construction team during system commissioning & start-up.

Essential Qualifications & Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in solar PV design, with experience in large-scale (MW+) projects.
• Strong knowledge of electrical principles, PV technology, and relevant standards.
• Strong knowledge of M.V Components “Transformers RMU Switchgear”
• Expertise in PV design and electrical modeling software.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

• PVsyst, AutoCAD, ETAP, SKUP, Homer
