Job Description

  • Plan and oversee all import, export, and cross-trade shipments from booking to final delivery.
  • Coordinate transportation, freight forwarders, and 3PL providers to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Resolve shipment delays and operational issues, acting as the main escalation point.
  • Manage the sample sending and receiving cycle.
  • Supervise customs clearance and manage relationships with clearance agents and port authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with shipping regulations, dangerous goods requirements (IMDG/ADR) for chemicals, and food import requirements (NFSA, Agricultural Quarantine).
  • Manage operations on Nafeza (ACID), CargoX, and the Agricultural Quarantine system.
  • Oversee issuance and accuracy of shipping documents (invoices, packing lists, COO, MSDS, TDS, B/L, and insurance policies).
  • Verify HS Code classification and coordinate L/C requirements with Finance and banks.
  • Negotiate rates and contracts with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and clearance agents.
  • Control logistics spend and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Minimize demurrage and storage charges through proactive planning.
  • Follow up on cargo insurance claims with insurers and carriers.
  • Manage warehouse operations inside the customs terminal, including space allocation.
  • Coordinate stock movement and delivery schedules with the warehouse team.
  • Ensure proper handling and storage standards for chemical and food shipments.
  • Maintain shipment tracking sheets and delivery performance dashboards.
  • Monitor logistics KPIs (on-time delivery, cost per shipment, documentation accuracy, cycle time) and report to top management.
  • Develop and improve SOPs for pricing, booking, documentation, and transportation.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the logistics team (pricing, documentation, and operations coordinators).
  • Set team KPIs, conduct performance reviews, and manage workload allocation.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Finance, Procurement, Warehouse, QA, and Legal on shipment-related matters.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, International Trade, or a related field.
  • 7–10 years of progressive experience in logistics, import/export, freight forwarding, or related operations, including at least 3 years in a managerial role leading and developing a logistics team.
  • Proven hands-on experience managing import, export, and cross-trade shipments for chemical and food commodities.
  • Strong practical knowledge of Egyptian customs procedures and international/local shipping regulations.
  • Proven hands-on experience with Nafeza, ACID, CargoX, and the Agricultural Quarantine system.
  • Solid knowledge of core shipping documentation (invoices, packing lists, COO, B/L, MSDS, TDS).
  • Strong working knowledge of Incoterms 2020, HS Code classification, and Letter of Credit (L/C) requirements.
  • Solid knowledge of dangerous goods handling and documentation (IMDG / ADR, UN classification, packaging, and labeling).
  • Solid knowledge of food import/export requirements (NFSA, Agricultural Quarantine, health certificates).
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating freight rates, transportation rates, and contracts with shipping lines, freight forwarders, clearance agents, and 3PL providers.
  • Experience managing or coordinating warehouse operations within customs terminals, ports, or bonded areas.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and Google Workspace, with hands-on ERP experience.
  • Valid driving license, with willingness to travel regularly to ports and customs terminals.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with Switch B/L.
  • Working knowledge of Odoo ERP.
  • Familiarity with temperature-controlled (reefer) shipping and cold-chain handling.
  • Professional certification such as CILT, APICS CSCP/CLTD, IATA/IMDG Dangerous Goods, or a Customs Clearance diploma.
  • Experience with marine cargo insurance and handling logistics-related claims.
  • Experience building and maintaining freight-rate and service-provider databases.
  • Experience with air, land, and sea freight, including LCL, FCL, and express shipments.
