Utility Engineer
Job Description
· Leads monitoring, maintenance, and improvement of utility networks (compressed air, CO2, natural gas, water, other industrial fluids) to ensure uninterrupted supply to all production and admin areas.
· Plans and executes preventive and corrective maintenance on utility equipment (compressors, dryers, filters, pressure regulators, gas lines, valves, piping systems, storage tanks, air compressors, liquid CO2 tanks, NG burners).
· Diagnoses and resolves complex utility system failures (leaks, pressure drops, contamination, blockages) quickly; conducts root cause analysis for major or recurring issues and implements permanent corrective actions, design modifications, or upgrade recommendations.
· Coordinates with government utility providers for scheduled shutdowns, maintenance windows, emergency responses, and new connections; manages utility consumption monitoring, reporting, and trend analysis to identify efficiency improvements and cost reduction opportunities.
· Maintains accurate records of utility systems, maintenance activities, spare parts usage, modifications, and consumption data; manages inventory of utility-specific spare parts and raises purchase requisitions with correct specifications.
· Leads improvement projects for utility efficiency, energy saving, reliability, and compliance (CIP projects); ensures all utility maintenance follows safety procedures (LOTO, gas handling, confined space, hot work permits).
· Trains and mentors Utilities Engineer and junior technicians on utility systems operation, troubleshooting, safety protocols, and best practices; reports utility KPIs (uptime, consumption trends, cost, improvement actions) to Mechanical Maintenance Section Head continuously.
Requirements & Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree in Power Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years of experience in industrial utility systems operation and maintenance (steel fabrication or heavy manufacturing preferred).
· Strong technical knowledge of compressed air systems, natural gas networks, CO2 systems, water treatment, pumping stations, piping design standards, and solid understanding of safety regulations for pressurized systems, gas handling, confined space entry, and environmental compliance.
· Proven leadership and problem-solving skills; ability to work under pressure during utility outages; good communication and coordination skills in Arabic and English for liaising with government providers and internal teams.
· Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word), knowledge of Oracle or CMMS systems, and familiarity with TPM, OSHA, report writing, and email etiquette.
