Job Description
- Design and roll out a group chart of accounts, one accounting system and a monthly close calendar
- Set finance policies and controls: approval limits, bank mandates, payment authority
- Lead the finance staff in each business on a dotted line, and hire where needed
- Oversee tax and statutory compliance with external advisers
- Set up digital systems and tools
- Deliver a consolidated regular management pack on a fixed date
- Run a weekly group cash report
- Define and report a short set of KPIs for each business
- Lead the annual budget and a rolling forecast, with variance analysis
- Coordinate the annual audits
- Forecast cash and advise where surplus cash is best used
- Advise on dividends, funding and debt across the group
- Manage banking relationships
- Build business cases for new units, expansion and major spend
Requirements & Qualifications
- Qualified accountant: ACCA, CPA, CMA or equivalent
- 10+ years' experience, including at least 4 years as a controller or finance manager in industry
- Has built or rebuilt the finance function of a multi-company group: consolidation, monthly reporting, controls
- Has advised a CEO or owner on cash, funding and investment decisions
- Hands-on: does the work while building the team
- Fluent professional English; willing to travel to Kenya regularly
- Healthcare, pharmaceutical, medical-device or distribution experience
- Big Four or audit-firm training
- Has implemented or consolidated an accounting system
- Experience in Kenya or East Africa
